Industrial Touch Screens

Touch Screens are highly developed displays that can accurately detect the location of touches on the display area, allowing the display to be used without requiring any keyboard or other device. Most of the time, those screens are LCD touch screens which can be easily attached to any computers. They have become very common since the seventies and are very familiar in retail settings, on ATMs and PDAs as well. But one of the most well known touch screen is actually the game console called the Nintendo DS.

As a matter of fact, designing a system using a touch screen as the operator input medium is becoming more and more popular within all sectors, and specially the industrial sector.
We start seeing touch screens in our everyday life but we do not suspect that industrial LCD touch screens are actually much more used. LCD touch screens would easily simplify the task of the engineer or the operator and dramatically reduce training time for operators while adding more capabilities to the machine itself.
Nowadays, touch screens technologies are rugged and reliable enough to be used in very harsh industrial environments where they could be used safely and can last much longer than other normal screens or displays. These screens provide a reliable interaction making them ideal for use in plenty of industrial applications.

From the clean room of an office or a warehouse to food-processing or the dusty factory floor; from portable applications to more complex computers, a wide selection of industrial LCD touch screens can now be found on the market.
The only little downside of the LCD touch screen is the ergonomic problem involved with the stress on the human fingers when a touch screen is used a lot. This issue though can be lifted with the use of a simple pen for example but obviously this solution is not really possible on touch screens places on ATMs or public kiosks for example.
