Change is tough to deal with. Human beings like comfort, predictability and familiarity with their surroundings. Our world is not like that however. Things change constantly and consistently and we need to be ready for it. How can we embrace change in our businesses?
First of all, know what is the most important to you. Focus on your core customer needs and your own core competency. What part of your business is the most important? You need to be very knowledgeable about the changes to this area. Because this area is the most critical for the success of your business, you need to embrace change in this area first.
For example, suppose that there were new laws that really impacted the pricing and purchasing decisions associated with your product line. What is the legal change? How does it impact you and your customers? What are the advantages and disadvantages of it?
Be positive positioning, even something, which at first seems negative, you can win out over your competition. While your competitors might be complaining about the change, you are working to take advantage of it. You are investigating and embracing how this change can help your business grow and prosper. While you embrace change, let your competitors be frustrated by it.
We cannot stop change from happening in the world, but when we embrace it with a positive, pro-active attitude it can often help us, help our customers and differentiate us in the marketplace. To enable Achievement Thinking, embrace change.
